    • Allow teachers to show and hide Assignments & Discussions

Teachers should be able to create Assignments & Discussions in advance and choose dates for them to be published and unpublished. A lot of teachers want to create all of their class work at the beginning of a term but don't want student's looking ahead.

Hello! Since we haven’t reached the Assignments & Discussions phase of our Lessons project yet, it’s more accurate to label this as something we’re planning. We expect to start building sometime in the next few months.

      • Add an All-School Calendar that feeds class Calendars.

For users inside a school domain, it would be helpful to have a centralized 'all-school' calendar which could provide events to all teachers inside a particular school/organization.

        • Allow users to customize their Portal layouts and Themes

For example, I'd rather be able to see my grades on top instead of announcements but there is no way to change it. I think there should be a feature where students can decide how their home page should be laid out so it can fit their specific needs. Students should also be able to change the Theme of their Portal.

          • List all upcoming and overdue or missing work from all classes in the Portal

Create a Table like the following on home page OR landing page:

            ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
            | Class | Home Work | Due Date |
            ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
            | Math | Tully Tallies Temper Tantrums | 09/22/2014 |
            ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
            | Science | Review Part 2 | 09/22/2014 |
            ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A hyperlink of the homework on each line would take you to its description. The table may also have previous days or future days home work as well, with the option to "check off" when completed. When an Assignment has been submitted successfully, we'd see an indication (like a green check mark).

Some teachers would like to see how students are performing in each category, to get a Homework average, a Quiz average, a Test average.

              • Customize the default due date and time for all Assignments in a class

In most cases, homework is due at the beginning of class on the day indicated. Additionally, even if I don't enter a time, it displays "11:59 pm" takes up space on the Calendar where they could see more text of the assignment.
It would be great if, by default, the "time" field was left blank or if default due times could be set at the Class level.

                • A full-page master Calendar in the Portal

Ideally this would be on the My Portal page instead of the small calendar and list of events. I am (and most of my students are) very visual, so only having a list of events makes it difficult to picture when assignments are due in comparison to each other and the day of the week.

What I'd really like is a calendar that looks like what you see inside an individual class on the Calendar tab, but this calendar should show ALL my classes. I would still like the functionality of being able to filter which class(es) is/are visible like…

Hi! For the sake of clarity, I’m going to update this idea to focus specifically on a full-page, multi-class Calendar in the Portal. That seems to be the core need expressed by a majority of the comments in this thread.

However, the original post also mentioned the ability for teachers to create content for classes via the Portal Calendar. That’s also a cool idea! If you’re interested in that, I’d recommend submitting a separate idea so that we can gather feedback separately. Thank you!

                  • Randomize Assessment Questions Used

As we build our online assessments, it would be ideal to create or upload a bank of questions from which only a random number will be given to each student. In other words, not every student will have exactly the same test. For example, the teacher could designate 10 matching from a the bank of say 40 questions and another 20 multiple choice from a bank of say 50 questons.

Again, such insures that each student has a different exam altogether minimizing their ability to "share."

Hi! We’re changing some processes and we’re no longer distinguishing between “Under Consideration” and “Gathering Feedback.” Going forward, both statuses will be combined as “Gathering Feedback.”

                    • Allow students & teachers to customize the drop-down list of "My Classes"

Please add a feature that allows teachers to customize the "My Classes" drop down menu at the upper right. This would save extra clicks and loading time for busy individuals.

                      • Show the date an Assignment was originally assigned.

I give many long term assignments. If I post on the calendar, my only option is to show the date it's due (which may be in 2 or 3 weeks). I would like students to see when it was assigned and how many days until it's due.

An event on Google Calendar may be a good model...it shows a bar over every day from the "start" to the finish. That would be an excellent visual for students on their calendars.

                        • Block late Assignment submissions in the Dropbox

This would option would prevent students from submitting late assignments. However, it would give the teacher the option of allowing the student to submit late assignments.

Turnitin can be integrated with Haiku Learning via LTI, but it would be better if Turnitin were integrated directly with the Dropbox.

Hi! We’re currently working on some tools for planning & delivering Lessons that would change the way Assignments are arranged and displayed. While we wouldn’t literally be adding drag-and-drop rearrangement to the Assignments Block (because the Assignments Block is how Assignments will be organized in Lessons) the new Lessons tools will allow you to drag and drop to put Assignments in order within the Lesson. Stay tuned for updates!

                              • Let teachers and students use the text editor throughout Assessments

The text editor isn't available everywhere in Assessments. For instance, teachers can't use the text editor when composing answers for short answer questions, and students can't use the text editor when answering those questions. This makes it difficult to use equations for math tests or special characters for foreign language tests.

                                    • Add the option to 'Drop Lowest Grade' for a Gradebook Category

Many, like myself, drop the lowest quiz (or other) grade from a particular gradebook category which currently haiku's gradebook doesn't support.

Hi! We’re changing some processes and we’re no longer distinguishing between “Under Consideration” and “Gathering Feedback.” Going forward, both statuses will be combined as “Gathering Feedback.”

                                      • Add a "Select All That Apply" question type in Assessments.

There is one simple request that I have been hearing from a lot of teachers. They would like the ability to do multiple correct answers in multiple choice questions. (ex: pick the two that are the most correct, select all that apply, etc)

                                        • Allow students to add work from Assessments, Assignments, and Discussions to their ePortfolios.

We use the discussions to have students reflect on their learning. It's great, except I want them to easily right click and add it to their portfolio. Also, their assessments and assignments could have the option to right click to their portfolio.
